The Town of Peace River retained BR2 Architecture to prepare a master plan for expansion of the existing Baytex Arena incorporating a link to the existing Town Aquatics Centre. BR2 prepared a study of existing facilities and a site analysis of the available development lands. The arena building evaluation found the current building to be nearing the end of its service life and estimated the cost of repairs to be prohibitive. BR2 Architecture recommended maintaining the existing arena for a period of five years and the develop a new stand alone facility adjacent to the current rink.
A new master plan incorporating phased development of the new facility, expansion of parking and demolition of the existing was developed. The new facility includes:
• Fieldhouse
• NHL size ice rink
• Events room
• Administration suites
• Community rooms
• Change areas
